Lady Rebels Home Opener Saturday

UNLV women's basketball tips off against Montana State at Thomas & Mack at 1 p.m.

LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) — The Lady Rebels' home opener is guaranteed to bring the stars out.

UNLV (1-0) women's basketball hosts Montana State (1-1) at the Thomas & Mack Center Saturday, Nov. 13. Tipoff is 1 p.m.

Linda Fröhlich, UNLV basketball's all-time leading scorer, and more than two dozen other Lady Rebels alums will be recognized on the court as the team celebrates an alumni reunion weekend.

Proof of vaccination required

Proof of vaccination is required for attendees (12 and older) at the Thomas & Mack Center. Fans, media and gameday personnel may complete the proof of vaccination by visiting: UNLVRebels.com/checkvax.

The game will broadcast live locally on YurView (COX 14, 1014 HD). Matt Neverett will handle play-by-play and women's hoops alumna Karen Hall will provide color analysis.

About the matchup

UNLV and Montana State have met twice previously with the Lady Rebels winning both contests. The first meeting occured Dec. 6, 1985, in Las Vegas, an 89-59 win for UNLV. UNLV then captured an 84-80 WNIT Tournament victory over the Bobcats on March 26, 1988, in Amarillo, Texas.

Scouting Montana State

  • Montana State returns four starters among 11 returners from a team that claimed 17-7 overall and 13-3 Big Sky Conference records in 2020-21.
  • Reigning Big Sky Conference Defensive Player of the Year Darian White led her team in scoring, rebounding, assists and steals last season.
  • Montana State was predicted to finish second in its conference's coaches and media polls.
  • The Bobcats are 1-1 this season after falling 72-47 at Gonzaga on Thursday night.

Lady Rebels last time out

  • UNLV defeated Oral Roberts 85-81 at the Mabee Center in Tulsa, Okla.
  • The Lady Rebels earned their 10th consecutive road victory, matching the program record set over the 1985 and 1986 seasons.
  • Junior guard Essence Booker scored 21 points to lead four Lady Rebels in double figures.
  • The Lady Rebels made their first nine field goals and built an early 12-point lead.
  • UNLV trailed 71-67 with 5:28 to play before using a 12-2 run to secure a victory.

Next Lady Rebels home game

  • The Lady Rebels' return to Vegas on Wednesday, Nov. 20, hosting Southern Utah. Tip-off at the COX Pavilion is 12 p.m. and the game will be broadcast on the Mountain West Network.
  • Tickets are $6 in advance and $10 on game day.
