FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. (UNLVRebels.com) — The Lady Rebels suffered their first defeat of the season, falling 84-62 to Northern Arizona at the Rolle Activity Center Wednesday night.
UNLV's
Nneka Obiazor scored a season-high 13 points off the bench and
Essence Booker added 11.
NAU's Khiarica Rasheed led all scorers with 24 points and Emily Rodabaugh hit 4-of-5 from beyond the arc for 17 points.
UNLV's program record road winning streak ended at 10 games, counting the first road loss for second-year head coach
Lindy La Rocque.Â
The Lady Rebels struggled offensively, shooting 34 percent (23-of-67) from the field and 22 percent (5-of-23) from 3-point range.
UNLV missed its first four field goal attempts in the game — a stark contrast to its early runs in its first two games of the year — until Booker and
Khayla Rooks connected, respectively, on a jumper and 3-pointer to cut NAU's 8-0 lead to 10-5.Â
Rodabough made three consecutive 3-pointers as NAU finished the first quarter with a 29-17 lead.Â
UNLV held NAU scoreless for 6 minutes through the second quarter, but never sparked a scoring run and trailed 42-29 at halftime.
