Box Score LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) – The UNLV volleyball team swept San Jose State 3-0 Thursday evening in three sets at Cox Pavilion for its fourth straight win.
The 27-25, 25-23, 25-14 victory improved the Rebels' home record this season to 7-3.
Junior Shelby Capllonch led UNLV (20-8, 11-6 MW) as she recorded her sixth double-double of the season with a match-high 13 kills and 11 digs, hitting .417 and scoring 13 points. Fifth-year senior Mariena Hayden recorded a match-high 15.5 points with 10 kills and red-shirt sophomore Jordyn Freeman hit a match-high .556, scoring 8.5 points, and recorded 6 blocks. The Rebels were led in assists by sophomore Arien Fafard with 17 and senior Lauryn Burt with 15.
UNLV outhit the Spartans .252 to .118 for the match and dominated in 27 total blocks to SJSU's eight.
Haylee Nelson led San Jose State (18-9, 12-5 MW) in kills with 9, Sarah Smevog had a match-high 12 digs and Mia Schafer had a match-high 22 assists.
The win earned UNLV a regular-season split with the Spartans as San Jose State swept the Rebels earlier this season in San Jose.
NEXT FOR UNLV: The Rebels will remain home for a match Saturday at 5:30 p.m. against UNR for Senior Night. Free popcorn will be given out (while supplies last). The Mountain West Championship tournament will also be played at the Cox Pavilion, Nov. 24-26.
