LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) – The UNLV volleyball team returns to Las Vegas this week to host the Boise State Broncos Friday and Saturday in the Cox Pavilion. Combined the Rebels and Broncos enter the fourth week of the Spring 2021 season undefeated, sporting a perfect 10-0 record.
Delving deeper, Boise State has played all three weeks of the Spring 2021 campaign, sweeping San Jose State, Utah State and Wyoming en route to winning 18 of 21 sets played. The Rebels, on the other hand, have swept both San Diego State and Colorado State, claiming the first and second match of each series by 3-0 and 3-1 scores, respectively.
First serve for both matches between UNLV and Boise State are slated for 6:30 pm.

ON THE SIDELINES
Following the conclusion of the UNLV and Boise State series, the Rebels will hit the road for a trip to the Beehive State to face Utah State. The Rebels and Aggies will play twice in Logan, with the first contest on March 4 (Thursday) scheduled to take place at the Wayne Estes Center at 3:00 pm PT (4:00 pm MT), while the second affair on March 6 (Saturday) is scheduled for the Dee Glen Smith Spectrum at 12:00 pm PT (1:00 pm MT).
RECEIVING VOTES
The UNLV volleyball team enters the fourth week of its Spring 2021 season with a perfect 4-0 record and NCAA Division I coaches have taken notice. Following series sweeps of San Diego State and Colorado State, the Rebels are receiving votes in the Feb. 22 edition of the American Volleyball Coaches Association's Top-25 Poll.
UNLV and the Mid-American Conference's Bowling Green Falcons (9-0) collected six points apiece in this week's survey and would sit in a tie for 35th place. Both the Rebels and Falcons started their seasons in February and January, respectively, while the majority of those in the top 25 as well as the "others receiving votes" category served it up in the fall.
CAPLLONCH RECOGNIZED FOR DEFENSIVE PLAY
UNLV sophomore outside hitter
Shelby Capllonch was named the Mountain West's Defensive Player of the Week after helping the Rebels to a road sweep of the Colorado State Rams.
The Honolulu native was instrumental on both sides of the court; however, her defensive play stood out. Capllonch led the team defensively with 39 digs and a 5.57 digs per-set average, both of which were team highs. She also added three assisted blocks to go along with 25 kills off .293 hitting.
Capllonch recorded her third and fourth double-doubles on the year in Fort Collins, Colorado, off kill-dig combinations. She posted 11 kills and 12 digs in the first match, and 14 kills and a season- and career-high 27 digs in the second contest.
SCOUTING THE OPPOSITION
>Boise State: The Broncos enter the fourth week of the Spring 2021 season with a 6-0 overall record with sweeps of San Jose State, Utah State and Wyoming … The Broncos have won 18 of 21 sets, claiming three matches in straight sets and three more by 3-1 scores … The Broncos return 10 letterwinners, five of which – including the libero – were starters, to the Spring 2021 squad … Included in those returners are 2019 Mountain West Freshman of the Year and Spring 2021 MW Preseason Team selection Lauren Ohlinger as well as 2019 All-MW honoree Jessica Donahue and 2019 All-MW Honorable Mention selection Danielle Boss … The Broncos went 18-12 in 2019 and finished fourth in the MW with a 10-8 mark.
