Rebels Welcome Another For 2021

UNLV volleyball adds Isha Knight to the roster for the upcoming season.

LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) – The UNLV volleyball program has received a signed commitment from Isha Knight to join the Rebels for the upcoming 2021-22 season, head coach Dawn Sullivan announced Tuesday.

Knight, a 5-7 libero/defensive specialist from Mililani, Hawaii, is a 2021 graduate of Kamehameha Kapalama High School. She lettered two years in volleyball for the Warriors, after playing on the junior varsity squad as a freshman and sophomore.

During her prep career, Knight was part of four straight Interscholastic League of Honolulu championships, winning twice as a member of the JV team (2017 and 2018) and two more times while on the varsity squad (2019 and 2020).

Knight and the Warriors won a state championship in 2019, and owned a two-year combined overall record of 48-6 and a 21-4 mark in conference competition.

Over her junior and senior campaigns, Knight played in a total of 74 sets for the Warriors and registered 142 digs, 79 kills, 28 assists, 20 aces, and 20 total blocks.

She has played club volleyball for Rainbows Volleyball Club for the past five years and, most recently, joined Intensity Volleyball Club this summer to participate at the 2021 AAU Nationals, with the team finishing fifth in the 18U Open Division.

Knight also suited up for the Warriors softball team and was three-year letterwinner on the diamond, and was recognized as an all-state second team performer in 2019.

Since November, the Rebel volleyball program has signed Keyana Cruse (Bonner Springs, Kansas/Bonner Springs HS), Dakota Quinlan (Cerritos, California/Valley Christian HS), Livvy Setla (Northville, Michigan/Northville HS), VaiLin Tagaloa (North Las Vegas/Shadow Ridge HS) and Chloe Thomas (Allen, Texas/Allen HS) as well as a pair of international student-athletes, Isabel Martin (Mauerstetten, Bavaria, Germany) and Milica Tasic (Belgrade, Serbia).

REBEL NOTES:
-UNLV concluded the season 13-1 overall and in the Second Round of the 2020 NCAA Volleyball Championship. The Rebels defeated Illinois State, 3-1, in the First Round before they suffered a 3-0 defeat to No. 2 Kentucky in the Second Round.
-UNLV won the Spring 2021 Mountain West regular-season title (12-0) and claimed the conference's automatic bid to the NCAA Volleyball Championship.
-UNLV's 13-0 start to the season – following the NCAA Tournament win over Illinois State – not only marked the best opening to a campaign in program history, but it also rewrote the program record for longest win streak.
-Dating back to the 2019 campaign, UNLV has won 29 of its last 32 matches – the best run through 32 matches in program history.
-Mariena Hayden was named an AVCA All-America Honorable Mention and was selected to the AVCA's Pacific South All-Region Team, too, after being chosen the Mountain West's Player of the Year.
-UNLV was well represented on the Spring 2021 All-MW Team, in addition to Hayden's MW's Player of the Year nod. Head coach Dawn Sullivan was named the MW's Coach of the Year, while middle blockers Kate Brennan and Macy Smith joined Hayden on the All-Conference Team. Outside hitter Shelby Capllonch was an Honorable Mention selection.
