LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) – UNLV senior long snapper Rex Goossen is one of 31 players on the 2021 Patrick Mannelly Award Watch List, which was unveiled Monday by award organizers.
 
Named after former Duke University and longtime Chicago Bears long snapper Patrick Mannelly, the award goes to college football's top player at the special teams position each year.
 
Goossen (Scottsdale, AZ/Brophy College Prep) enters this fall looking to serve as the Rebels' top long snapper for the third straight season. The 2020 Academic All-Mountain West team member came to Las Vegas after stops at Arizona and Scottsdale Community College.  


 
Created just a few years ago, the Mannelly Award went to Alabama's Thomas Fletcher in 2020 and Notre Dame's John Shannon in 2019. It benefits Bernie's Book Bank, a non-profit organization located in Lake Bluff, Illinois. The 10 semifinalists will be announced November 15 and those names will be narrowed to three finalists November 29 with this year's winner revealed in December.
