LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) - The UNLV men's basketball team rallied to cut a 14-point second-half deficit to just three points with under a minute to play, but Fresno State escaped with a 73-68 decision Friday night at the Thomas & Mack Center.
The Runnin' Rebels (9-7, 1-2) had three players score in double figures, led by Bryce Hamilton's game-high-tying 24 points. Donovan Williams added 15 and Royce Hamm Jr. contributed 14 points and a team-high eight rebounds.
Fresno State (12-4, 2-1) also had three players in double-figure scoring, led by Orlando Robinson's double-double of 24 points and game-high 11 rebounds. Anthony Holland scored 16 points and Isaiah Hill had 10.
STAT OF THE GAME: Fresno State shot 60.9% (14 of 23) in the second half and finished the contest at 50% (25 of 50)
COMEBACK ATTEMPT: UNLV trailed by 11 points at 63-52 with 6:30 to play. Hamilton scored UNLV's next eight points and the team trailed by three at 71-68 with under a minute to play, but Fresno State made two free throws to put the game away.
QUOTABLE: "I thought it was a really good fight by our guys. We just turned it on a little late. We had a little bit of a stall, but in the last seven minutes there was a good fight to get back in it and make it a one possession game.

NOTES:
- UNLV had won five of its previous six games heading into the game vs. Fresno State.
- It was the 50th all-time meeting between UNLV and Fresno State in men's basketball. UNLV leads the all-time series 33-17 and fell to 18-7 against the Bulldogs at home.
- UNLV shot 50.0% (15 of 30) in the second half, including 46.7% on 3-pointers (7 of 15).
- UNLV finished the game shooting 42.1% (24 of 57).
- Fresno State outrebounded UNLV 36-27.
- Fresno State led in points in the paint 32-20 and in second-chance points 10-3.

NEXT FOR THE RUNNIN' REBELS: UNLV will play at San Jose State on Monday, Jan. 17 at 6 p.m. The game, which was rescheduled from a Jan. 5 postponement, will be televised on CBS Sports Network.
