Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Runnin' Rebels Record Regular-Season Sweep Of San Jose State

Bryce Hamilton recorded his second consecutive game with at least 30 points as UNLV defeated the Spartans 70-62 on Saturday at the Thomas & Mack Center.

LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) - The UNLV men's basketball team defeated San Jose State, 70-62, Saturday afternoon at the Thomas & Mack Center. The win marked the second of the week for the Runnin' Rebels over the Spartans as they also met Monday in San Jose, with UNLV securing the regular-season sweep.

Bryce Hamilton scored a game-high 30 points - his second straight game with at least that many - and he also grabbed nine rebounds for UNLV (11-8, 3-3). Jordan McCabe was also in double figures with 11 points, while Royce Hamm Jr. collected a game-high 14 rebounds.

San Jose State (7-10, 0-5) was led by Trey Anderson's 19 points and nine rebounds, and Omari Moore's 17 points and seven rebounds.

STAT OF THE GAME: UNLV held San Jose State to just 30.0% from the field in the first half (9 of 30).

COMEBACK ATTEMPT: San Jose State cut UNLV's lead from 16 early in the second half to just four points with a minute to play, but the Runnin' Rebels held off the Spartan rally for the win.

QUOTABLE: "I'm just ecstatic and proud of how the guys just continue to fight no matter what's going on. Learning that Donovan (Williams) was going to be out 15 minutes before the game, we adapted and adjusted knowing that San Jose State was going to fight and compete and not be the same team that we played Monday. Mentally, we had to approach it that way and the guys did. We had to come out and give it everything we could early on, and set the tone early, which is what we did. A lot of them were in roles that they hadn't spent a lot of time with and it didn't matter. It was just about doing whatever they needed to do to get UNLV the win. I'm just incredibly proud of them." - UNLV head coach Kevin Kruger
