LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) – UNLV cross country sophomore Natalia Ruiz has been named the Raising Cane's Outstanding Rebel of the Week, the school announced Thursday.

The award goes to the student-athlete who turned in the best individual performance during the previous week of competition from Monday through Sunday as voted on by the UNLV Athletics Strategic Communications department.

Ruiz, who hails from Madrid, Spain, led the Rebels at the Steve T. Reeder Memorial Invitational last weekend, finishing first (18:08.40) out of 35 runners in the women's 5K race. This is her second straight victory at the annual meet hosted by Utah State, which she won last year with a time of 18:25.2.
