Rebels Silence Broncos In Three Sets (Again)

This win marks the Scarlet & Gray's 10th consecutive win.

BOISE, Idaho (UNLVRebels.com) - The UNLV volleyball team (19-3, 10-1 MW) absolutely dominated Boise State (14-9, 6-6 MW) in three sets Thursday evening in the Bronco Gym. The Rebels also swept the Broncos earlier this season (Oct. 15) from the friendly confines of Cox Pavilion. 

This win marks the 10th win in a row for the Scarlet & Gray who took this match against BSU with ease in a quick three-set sweep. After winning the first and second frames by scores of 25-18 and 25-19, UNLV easily took the third and final set after gaining a seven-point lead early and finishing with a score of 25-17. 

REBEL OF THE MATCH: Junior Gabrielle Arretche-Ramos recorded a match-high 12 kills and tacked on seven digs and 12 points. 

UNLV was led by graduate student Jhenna Gabriel's double-digit outing with a match-high 37 assists and 10 digs, followed by freshman Maya Sands who totaled 12 digs, one service ace and one point.

Leading the squad in attack efficiency was redshirt junior Isabel Martin and sophomore Dakota Quinlan who hit for .538 and .526, respectively. The hitting contest went to the Scarlet & Gray as they outhit the Broncos .385 to .118.  

UP NEXT: The Rebels will head over to Logan, Utah to take on Utah State (15-7, 7-4 MW) Saturday afternoon at 12 p.m. (PT). 

OTHER NEWS & NOTES
- Dating back to 2019, UNLV has gone 76-15 in its last 91 matches. The Rebels have won 19 of 22 matches this season and 45 of its last 54.
- UNLV returned eight letterwinners this season. Also returning to the squad from last season were Gabrielle Arretche-Ramos, Arien Fafard, Jordyn Freeman, Chloe Thomas, Isha Knight, Keyana Cruse, Dakota Quinlan, Livvy Setla, Isabel Martin and Thea Sweder. There are eight newcomers, which include three freshmen, a trio of transfers and a pair of graduate transfers.
- UNLV is led by fifth-year head coach Dawn Sullivan, who looks to guide her squad to the postseason for the fifth straight season. 
- Junior Arien Fafard had her 1,000th career assist during the opening weekend of the Rebels' 2022 campaign at UNT. 
- The Rebels defeated No. 19 Kansas on September 10, 2022, making that the second win over a ranked team since 2016. The first being then No. 25 Washington State during the fall 2021 season at the Rebel Challenge (Sept. 4, 2021). 
- Head Coach Dawn Sullivan notched 100 wins during the match against then MW leaders San Jose State, 3-1.
