Trailblazers Outduel Rebels, 1-0

Rogers' 71st-minute goal the difference in UNLV's season finale

ST. GEORGE, Utah (UNLVRebels.com) — Utah Tech scored a late goal to defeat UNLV 1-0 in the season finale for both teams Friday night at Greater Zion Stadium.

Larsen Rogers' 71st-minute goal was the difference. Rogers grounded a left-footed shot through a lane in the Rebels' defense. The shot rolled just beyond the outstretched arms of UNLV goalkeeper Andrew Sway and inside the near-side post.

UNLV (1-9-7 overall, 0-6-3 WAC) led the early attack, setting up four shots in the first 30 minutes of play. Senior forward Hayden Prasad kicked quality looks three times in the first half, but each was nicked by the final man between the ball and the net.

The Rebels struggled to find a shot in the middle third of the contest and were out-shot 9-1 by the Trailblazers, who finally broke through on Rogers' sneaker.

Brophy Howard fired a final shot, low and center toward the goal, with 30 seconds to play, but Utah Tech keeper Jacob Zimmerman collapsed on it to seal the match.
