Lady Rebels' Season Opens Monday Evening

UNLV hosts Pepperdine at 5:15 p.m. at the Cox Pavilion

LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) — UNLV women's basketball begins its 2022-23 season Monday night against Pepperdine. TIp-off is 5:15 p.m. inside the Cox Pavilion. 

The Lady Rebels are 7-2 all-time against the Waves. UNLV has won three straight matchups with the last a 69-44 victory in Malibu, Calif., on Dec. 8, 2019.

UNLV returns 91 percent of its scoring from the team that swept the 2022 Mountain West Conference regular-season and tournament championships. UNLV is predicted to top the league again in 2023.

Junior center Desi-Rae Young was selected as the conference's preseason player of the year. Fellow Las Vegan Essence Booker joined Young on the five-member Preseason All-Mountain West Team.

Fan-favorite Justice Ethridge, 3-point shooting leader Alyssa Durazo-Frescas and reigning Mountain West Sixth Player of the Year Nneka Obiazor are all league award winners returning to the lineup this season.

Tickets are $6 when purchased in advance online at UNLVTickets.com. General admission tickets at the door are $10 ($8 for seniors, UNLV faculty/staff and alumni). UNLV students and 

Nevada high school students (presenting student ID) as well as all children 12 and under enter free.

Admission is also free to attendees presenting tickets to Monday night's UNLV men's basketball game versus Southern that follows in the Thomas and Mack Center.

Broadcast Information

The game will air live locally on the Silver State Sports and Entertainment Network (KVVU 5.2, Cox 125) and stream online on the Mountain West Network (theMW.com/watch).  Play-by-play announcer Wyatt Tomchek and color analyst Steve Cofield have the call.

Introducing the Newest Lady Rebel 

Ellie Mae Cunningham was born at 4:43 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 3, to UNLV head coach Lindy La Rocque and her husband, Dan Cunningham. It is the couple's first child. 

La Rocque will be away from the sidelines for her maternity leave for an undetermined number of weeks. Associate head coach Roman Owen will fill in as the acting head coach.
