SAN JOSE, Calif. (UNLVRebels.com) - The UNLV men's basketball team (11-2, 0-1) lost in overtime at San Jose State, 75-72, in both teams' Mountain West opener Wednesday night at the Provident Credit Union Event Center.
EJ Harkless scored all of his game-high 20 points after halftime, while
Justin Webster added 11 points on 3 of 4 3-point shooting.
Luis Rodriguez had a team-high eight rebounds.

BIG RUNS: San Jose State ended the first half on a 16-2 run to take a 41-30 halftime lead, while the Runnin' Rebels went on a 17-1 run midway through the second half to take a 62-59 lead with under six minutes to go.
END OF REGULATION: Harkless' 3-pointer with 3:21 to go gave UNLV a 65-62 lead, however it would be the Runnin' Rebels' final points of the half. Tied at 65 and six seconds remaining,
Luis Rodriguez made a short jumper, which looked to give UNLV a 67-65 lead, but it was waved off after review because the shot clock expired. Moore missed a contested 3-pointer at the buzzer, sending the game to overtime.
END OF OVERTIME: Trailing 72-70 with 30 seconds to go in the extra period,
Jordan McCabe stole an inbound pass and got it to
Keshon Gilbert in the open court. Gilbert's contested layup missed and San Jose State grabbed the loose-ball rebound before making free throws to seal the game.

Kevin Kruger.
