LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) – UNLV football's Johnathan Baldwin has been named the Raising Cane's Outstanding Rebel of the Week, the school announced Saturday.
The award goes to the student-athlete who turned in the best individual performance during the previous week of competition from Monday through Sunday as voted on by the UNLV Athletics Strategic Communications department.
Baldwin, a sophomore from Houston, Texas, led the Rebels to victory over in-state rival UNR, 27-22, to take home the Fremont Cannon. He returned a fumble 55 yards for a touchdown to spark the Rebels' comeback after trailing 13-0. In all, he scored a defensive touchdown, grabbed one interception, tallied two pass breakups and eight tackles - seven of which were solo tackles. Additionally, Baldwin was named the MW Defensive Player of the Week for the performance.
