Runnin' Rebels' Three-Game Win Streak Snapped With Loss To Boise State

Hamilton scored 25 points in 86-76 setback Saturday at Thomas & Mack Center.

LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) - The UNLV men's basketball team had its three-game win streak snapped with an 86-76 loss to Mountain West-leading Boise State Saturday night at the Thomas & Mack Center.

Senior guard Bryce Hamilton scored a team-high 25 points with five rebounds, while Donovan Williams added 17 on 7 of 10 shooting and Royce Hamm Jr. contributed 12. David Muoka recorded a game-high seven rebounds for UNLV (17-12, 9-7).

Boise State (23-6, 14-2) had two 20-point scorers as Marcus Shaver Jr. had 27 and Abu Kigab added 23.

STAT OF THE GAME: The Broncos led in second-chance points 21-5, recording 13 offensive rebounds.

THE TURNING POINT: The game had eight lead changes, but with the Runnin' Rebels trailing by three with just over five minutes to play a 9-1 Boise State run late in the second half put it out of reach for UNLV.

SHOOTING: Boise State shot 50.0% (8 of 16) on 3-pointers in the first half and led 47-41 at the half. The Broncos finished at 53.4% (31 of 58) on field goals for the game, including 45.8% (11 of 24) on 3-pointers. UNLV shot 48.1% (26 of 54) from the field.

QUOTABLE: "I thought that we showed a lot of fight and a lot of grit to come back on a team like Boise State and give ourselves a chance to win. I was really proud of that side of it. But on the other side, you can't let a team like Boise State get their rhythm going and offensively flow like they did. They are too good. Although it was a back and forth game in the second half with lead changes and big plays made on both sides, it still had that feeling where we knew we were going to have to do something to turn the tide. They have been in tons of those kinds of games and they are a really good team." - UNLV head coach Kevin Kruger

NOTES:
- It was the first meeting between the two teams at the Thomas & Mack Center since the 2020 Mountain West Tournament and extended Boise State's overall win streak over UNLV to five games.
- Hamilton has now scored in double figures in 23 straight games and has scored 20 or more 17 times this season. He has had 20 or more in 10 of his last 12 games.
- Boise State held a 13-point lead in the first half, but the Runnin' Rebels battled back to eventually lead the game early in the second half.
- Boise State out-rebounded UNLV 38-29 for the game.
