SAN DIEGO (UNLVRebels.com) – A six-run top of the eighth propelled the UNLV baseball team to a come-from-behind win, 10-8, over SDSU to complete the conference opening series sweep Sunday at Tony Gwynn Stadium in San Diego, California.
The Rebels saw their record improve to 9-7 (3-0 MW), while the Aztecs dropped to 4-11 (0-3 MW).
SDSU still owns the overall series record between the programs, 98-70, though the last time the Scarlet & Gray swept the Aztecs in San Diego was May 4-6, 2007 (6-3, 7-6, 6-1).
REBEL OF THE GAME: Eric Bigani hit 3-for-5 at the plate for the Rebels, including his fourth homer of the season in the top of the eighth that drove in Edarian Williams and Joey Walls.
TURNING POINT: The Aztecs held a two-run lead going into the top of the eighth, only for the Rebels to come back with six runs on five hits and one error to take back the lead.
Noah Beal (2-0) earned the win after pitching 3.0 innings of relief, allowing only two runs off of three hits and one strikeout.
Nick Rupp (S,2) secured his second save of the season after going 1.2 innings of relief, allowing only one hit and two walks.
Jonny Guzman (0-2) was saddled with the loss after pitching 1.0 frames of relief, allowing four runs off of three hits and only one strikeout.

- Edarian Williams leads the MW in assists (44), Diego Alarcon is ranked second in the MW for runs scored (18), Joey Walls sits second overall for slugging percentage with .683 and Henry Zeisler sits third overall for slugging percentage with .636.
- The Rebels lead the MW in batting average with .307, going 184-for-599. UNLV is second overall in the MW for homers with 18.
UP NEXT: UNLV will head over to Riverside, California to take on the Lancers of California Baptist at James W. Totman Stadium for a single-game contest Monday, beginning at 2 p.m.
