LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) – The UNLV baseball team dropped the second game of a three-game home series to Cal Poly, 15-11, Saturday afternoon at Earl E. Wilson Stadium.
The Scarlet & Gray saw their record drop to 5-5, while the Mustangs improved to 5-5.
REBEL OF THE GAME: Austin Kryszczuk went 4-for-6 at the plate with three runs scored for the Rebels.
TURNING POINT: The Mustangs went into the top of the eighth down by three runs, only to come back with three runs off of three hits to tie the ballgame 10-10. Cal Poly pulled ahead in the ninth frame with five runs off of four hits and one error to take a 15-10 lead. The Rebels answered back with a homer from Austin Pfeifer, but couldn't draw any closer.
Jason Franks (2-1) earned the win after going 2.1 innings of relief, only allowing one run off of two hits.
Sam Simon (0-1) was saddled with the loss after pitching 2.0 innings of relief, allowing six runs off of five hits and two walks.
UP NEXT: UNLV will close out the final game of the series against Cal Poly Sunday, with first pitch set for 12:05 p.m.
