LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) – The UNLV baseball team dropped the first game of a two-game home series against Utah Valley, 3-2, Monday night at Earl E. Wilson Stadium.
The Scarlet & Gray saw their record drop to 6-6, while the Wolverines improved to 4-8.
REBEL OF THE GAME: Josh Sharman pitched 7.0 innings for the Rebels with nine strikeouts and allowing only two runs off of five hits.
TURNING POINT: By the end of the seventh frame, the score held steady at 2-2 only for the Wolverines to come into the top of the eighth and grab the game deciding run after reaching on an error by Edarian Williams.
Luke McCollough (1-1) secured his first win of the season after going 2.2 innings of relief with four strikeouts and only allowing one hit.
Kayler Yates (S,1) recorded his first save of the season after pitching 1.0 innings of relief and only allowing one hit.
Jimmy Gamoa (0-1) was saddled with his first loss of the season after pitching 2.0 innings of relief and allowing one run off of three hits and only one strikeout.
