ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (UNLVRebels.com) – Three RBIs in the top of the third frame launched the UNLV baseball team to a four-run lead to defeat New Mexico, 12-4, during the second game of the three-game series Saturday night at Santa Ana Star Field.
The Rebels saw their record improve to 18-9 (10-1 MW), while the Lobos dropped to 12-15 (5-6 MW).
REBEL OF THE GAME:Â Joey Walls went 3-for-4 at the plate with three RBIs and two runs scored for the Rebels, including his sixth homer of the year - his second of this series.Â
Noah Beal (5-0) earned the win after pitching 6.0 innings with two punchouts and allowing only three runs on five hits.Â
Troy Balko (S,1) recorded his first save of the season after going 3.0 innings of relief with five strikeouts and allowing only one run off four hits.
Brett Russel (1-4) was saddled with the loss after pitching 3.0 innings, allowing eight runs on eight hits and only two strikeouts.
