ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (UNLVRebels.com) – Off to its best start in conference play in program history with an 11-1 mark, the UNLV baseball team completed the sweep over New Mexico Sunday afternoon, 27-6, at Santa Ana Star Field.
This is the second largest winning margin in program history since UNLV played NMSU in May of 1992 (23-2), this is also the third most runs scored in a single-game by the Rebels since they played BYU in March of 1999 with 27 runs.
The Rebels saw their record improve to 19-9 (11-1 MW), while the Lobos dropped to 12-16 (5-7 MW).
REBEL OF THE GAME: Joey Walls went 4-for-5 at the plate for the Rebels, scoring four runs - including his third homer of the series, seventh on the season, and a career high six RBIs.
TURNING POINT: The ballgame was tied 1-1 going into the top half of the fourth inning, only for the Scarlet & Gray to score three runs, two RBIs, to put them in the lead.
Noah Mattera (4-0) earned his fourth win of the season after pitching 5.0 innings, allowing only three runs on six hits and four strikeouts.
Tristin Lively (1-3) was saddled with the loss after pitching 4.0 innings, allowing seven runs off of six hits and two punchouts.
UP NEXT: The Rebels will return to Las Vegas and Earl E. Wilson Stadium for the first game of a 13-game homestand against UC Riverside, Tuesday with first pitch scheduled for 2:05 p.m.
GAME NOTES
- The Rebels are currently on a five-game winning streak for the second time this season, dropping the first streak against San Jose State March 26 (L 8-5).
- The Rebels have gone 10-2 twice in conference play, once in 1986 in the Big West conference and again in 2003 in the Mountain West conference.
- Diego Alarcon and Braden Murphy are both currently on a nine-game hitting streak and Hank Zeisler is on a seven-game hitting streak.
- The Rebels now own a 16-game lead in the all-time head-to-head series against New Mexico, they will meet again April 22-24 at Earl E. Wilson Stadium.

Single-game ticket prices this season are $10 for adults, $8 for seniors, faculty and staff, and $5 to groups of 15 or more. Fans that purchase tickets online before game day can get them for an advanced single-game price of $6.
All high school, middle school and elementary students are free under UNLV's new admission policy. To receive free admission, high school students must present valid Nevada are school I.D. at the box office on gameday for one (1) complimentary ticket. Current UNLV students will receive free admission with a valid school I.D. All other students will receive a complimentary ticket at the box office (no I.D. required). Kids not yet elementary school age will continue to receive free admission for all UNLV Olympic sports.
