RENO (UNLVRebels.com) – The UNLV men's tennis team closed its regular-season schedule with a 4-1 loss at in-state rival UNR Wednesday afternoon at the McArthur Tennis Center as part of the Silver State Series presented by IBEW and Nevada Donor Network.
 
The Rebels fell to 12-14 overall and 1-5 in the Mountain West while the first-place Wolf Pack improved to 16-6 and 4-1. UNR will gain three points in the Silver State Series, pending a potential rematch in next week's conference tournament.
 
The hosts began the day by taking the top two doubles matches for a 1-0 lead. UNLV's lone win came on court three where Jackson Atherton and Jordan Sauer combined for a 6-4 victory.
 
In singles play, Sauer got his team on the board with a 6-4, 6-2 win over Juan Batalla at the No. 2 position but the Pack took straight-set victories on courts 3-5 to end things.
 
UP NEXT: UNLV will travel to Colorado Springs for the 2022 Mountain West Men's Tennis Championship, which kicks off April 29 on the campus of the Air Force Academy.
