LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) — UNLV women's basketball head coach Lindy La Rocque announced today the promotion of Roman Owen to associate head coach and the hiring of Hailey King as video coordinator.

"I'm thrilled for Roman and his family to be able to reward their commitment to our program," La Rocque said. "He's been instrumental in designing our schemes and leading us on the recruiting trail."

Owen joined the program with La Rocque's hiring two years ago as the staff guided the Lady Rebels to remarkable success, culminating with a sweep of the 2022 Mountain West Conference regular-season and tournament championships and the first NCAA Championship appearance since 2002. Additionally, the Lady Rebels set a program-record team GPA of 3.44 during the fall 2021 term and continued the excellence during its championship run by recording a 3.40 for the spring of 2022.

Under Owen's tutelage, the Lady Rebels improved their scoring offense by 15.2 points per game and scoring margin by more than 11 points. In 2020-21, UNLV was picked to finish ninth in the Mountain West's preseason poll but the Lady Rebels finished second and won more games than any other team in the league. This past season, UNLV captured 26 victories, the second-most ever in program history.

"Hailey is going to be an exciting addition to our team," La Rocque continued. "She'll have some big shoes to fill but her love and knowledge of basketball are amazing. Coincidentally, her coaching experience and career path are much like Roman's were at this stage and she is a star in the making. We're lucky to have her here."

King comes to UNLV from Fullerton, Calif., where she gained five years of experience as an assistant coach at an NAIA university and junior college. King is an alumna of Cal State Fullerton, playing for the Titans while earning bachelor's and master's degrees in kinesiology and exercise science.
