With 104 players on the roster, the UNLV football team opened preseason camp on a steamy Saturday morning at Rebel Park. The initial on-field session represented the first-ever official UNLV practice held in the month of July because of the Rebels' move to opening in Week Zero on August 27 vs. Idaho State at Allegiant Stadium (12:30 pm kickoff).
With no less than 32 new faces added to the squad, the players and staff immediately looked focused on working toward significant improvement coming off a season that saw the team on the wrong side of a school-record six games decided by just one score.
"Couldn't be more excited to be out here for Day One -- finally!" said third-year head coach
Marcus Arroyo following the helmets-only practice. "Been itching to get out here. Got a lot of new guys running around, which is exciting."
UNLV is right back at it Sunday morning at Rebel Park on campus. Practices are closed to the public.
