LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) – The UNLV volleyball program rounded out their fall signees with two sophomore transfers - Madi Kelly and Alyssa Muraoka - who will enroll at the University beginning August of 2022, head coach Dawn Sullivan announced Thursday.
Kelly is a 6-1 outside hitter from Lake Forest, CA who comes to the Rebels after spending her freshman year with Oregon State. During her lone season with the Beavers, Madi started in eight matches, appeared in a total of 15, and totaled 36 kills, 26 blocks, 15 digs, six service aces and five assists. The 2021 graduate of JSerra Catholic High School lettered in volleyball all four years, was named Freshman of the Year as a middle blocker, earned the Heart of a Lion award as a sophomore, won the Gigi Award as a senior playing outside hitter and was named to First Team All-Trinity.
Muraoka is a 5-6 libero out of Honolulu, Hawaii transferring from University of Portland. During her season with the Pilots, Alyssa played in a total of 81 sets, averaged 2.24 digs per set, and had 31 assists and seven service aces. The 2021 graduate of Mid Pacific Institute in Honolulu lettered four times in volleyball and once in paddling. Muraoka was named to the 2018 and 2019 ILH All-Stars Second Team, she also earned 2018 All-State Honorable Mention as a utility and was named to the 2018 ILH All-Stars DII Second Team as a libero. During her last season with the Owls, Alyssa led her team to a 2018 DII ILH Championship. Throughout her high school career, she also played with the 2019 Aloha Region HP 18s Team for international competition where she was also selected to HP A1 Women's Jr. National program, which was cancelled due to the coronavirus pandemic.
