CEDAR CITY, Utah (UNLVRebels.com) – The UNLV volleyball (7-2) team fell to Idaho State (8-3), 3-1, in its neutral site contest Friday to open the Southern Utah Invitational.
After the Rebels came out on top in the first set, 25-16, the Bengals clawed their way to 25-19, 25-17 and 25-21 victories over the final three frames, respectively.
Junior
Isabel Martin led the Scarlet & Gray with a double-double, finishing the match with 14 kills and 11 digs. She was joined in double-digit outings for the Rebels by junior
Gabrielle Arretche-Ramos' 12 kills, junior
Jordyn Freeman's 10 kills,
Jhenna Gabriel's 35 assists and freshman
Maya Sands' 20 digs.
In spite of the Rebels' top individual performances, Idaho State pulled away with the hitting-efficiency advantage behind a .248 hitting percentage as opposed to UNLV's .121 hitting percentage.

- UNLV returned eight letterwinners this season.
- Also returning to the squad from last season were Gabrielle Arretche-Ramos, Arien Fafard, Jordyn Freeman, Chloe Thomas, Isha Knight, Keyana Cruse, Dakota Quinlan, Livvy Setla, Isabel Martin and Thea Sweder. There are eight newcomers, which include three freshmen, a trio of transfers and a pair of graduate transfers.
- UNLV is led by fifth-year head coach Dawn Sullivan, who looks to guide her squad to the postseason for the fifth straight season.
