FRIDAY'S PREVIEW...
First-place UNLV (3-1/1-0) plays the first of its three non-Saturday games of the season by hosting New Mexico (2-2/0-1) Friday night at Allegiant Stadium ... The Rebels, who already have more victories than the last two seasons combined, will set out to earn a fourth win in their first five games of a season for the first time since 2003 under Hall of Fame head coach John Robinson ... The Rebels are coming off a 34-24 win at Utah State while New Mexico fell 38-0 at LSU ... UNLV just won its opening MW game on the road for the first time since 2015 at UNR and can move to 2-0 in league play for only the second time in history (2013) with what would be its third straight victory overall for the first time since taking four in a row in 2013 ... UNLV is one of four schools in the nation to have at least nine different players who have recorded at least 1.0 QB sack ... The Rebels boast one of the nation's top TD men as Louisville grad transfer RB Aidan Robbins is tied with two others for second in the FBS with eight total scores (seven rushing, one receiving) ... UNLV is tied with one team (Louisiana) for second in the nation in turnover margin at plus-nine (USC leads college football at +14). 

REBELS vs. LOBOS NOTES... 
UNLV's 31-17 win over UNM in Albuquerque last fall gave the Rebels a 13-12 all-time lead in the series ... While the Lobos played games at now-shuttered Sam Boyd Stadium during the 2020 pandemic-shortened season, they are playing UNLV in Las Vegas for the first time since 2018 ... This marks the third non-Saturday game ever between these teams and the first staged in Las Vegas (UNLV lost in Albuquerque on Labor Day Monday in 2005 and won a 38-35 Friday night thriller in 2017) ... UNLV has taken seven of the last 10 vs UNM ... Eight of the last 15 games played between these two programs have been decided by seven points or less ... These schools played five straight seasons (1978-82) when UNLV first thought itself headed to the Western Athletic Conference ... UNLV's third-year running backs coach Scott Baumgartner, who is in his second season also serving as the Rebels' special teams coordinator, was a member of the Lobos' staff from 2013-19 ...
