Rebels Fall to Fresno State On The Road

UNLV’s loss on Saturday moves them to a 4-4 record in the Mountain West, 12-8 overall in the season.

FRESNO, Cali. - The UNLV volleyball team (12-8, 4-4 Mountain West) continued their road trip west for their final game of the week on Saturday, competing against Fresno State. The Rebels fell to the Bulldogs in the road match on a final score of 3-0.

Fresno State (10-9, 4-4 MW) claimed the win 25-22, 25-13 and 25-19 in the three-set match. The Bulldogs' hitting percentage was set at .275 compared to the Rebels' .109.

Madi Kelly ended the match with the most kills for UNLV, totally six off of 23 total attempts. Jordyn Freeman and Gabrielle Arretche-Ramos each had five kills for the Rebels, Freeman also registering her third solo block in the last six matches. Junior Dakota Quinlan led the team with four total blocks against the Bulldogs, Caleigh King being the only student-athlete with double-digit digs in the match at 11. Arien Fafard totaled the most assists for UNLV in the match, earning 16 while also picking up one kill of her own.

Fresno State's Ella Rud garnered seven kills in 23 attempts, both Grace Doyle and Kasey Purry registering six kills each. The Bulldogs had two student-athletes with over 10 digs, Dionii Fraga picking up 14 with Brooke Cowie collecting 13.

NEXT FOR THE REBELS: The Rebels will look to bounce back next week with two more contests, splitting one on the road and one at home. They'll first take on Utah State on their home court, facing off in Cox Pavilion on Thursday, Oct. 19.
