Thienna Huynh finished tied for 12th as UNLV women's golf wrapped up its fall schedule with Tuesday's final round of the Hurricane Invitational hosted by Miami at Biltmore Golf Course (Par 72, 6,170 yards).
A day removed from back-to-back even-par rounds, Huynh etched a final-round 3-under 69 on her scorecard to end with a season-low 3-under 213 for the tournament. Additionally, she birdied four holes on day two, including the last three of her front nine, to finish with a career-high 12 birdies during the two-day event.
Finishing behind Huynh for the Rebels, graduate student
Maria Jose Martinez (+6) tied for 42nd, senior
Madeleine Laux (+10) and junior
McKenzi Hall (+10) tied for 56th and junior
Mayumi Umezu (+12) tied for 58th. Competing as an individual, graduate student
Maria Fernanda Martinez (+8) tied for 48th.
The host Hurricanes held their position atop the team and individual standings to cruise to the tournament titles. They placed first as a team with a 27-under, while their own Sara Byrne had a winning score of 19-under.
UNLV (+22) moved up one spot into an 11th-place finish with its lowest round as a team this tournament.
