LAS VEGAS (UNLVrebels.com) – After taking down Colorado State earlier in the week, the UNLV volleyball team (17-11, 9-7 Mountain West) hosted the Wyoming Cowgirls (18-9, 7-9) on Saturday afternoon for the final home match of the regular season. The Rebels continued their win streak with a dominant showing in the inner-conference matchup, sweeping Wyoming on a final score of 3-0. UNLV honored a quad of seniors after the game, including
Isabel Martin,
Jordyn Freeman,
Kennedy Prince and
Olivia Mikkelsen.
UNLV posted its best offensive efficiency during Mountain West play during Saturday's match, hitting .434 overall in the match. The Rebels totaled 42 kills in 83 total attacks with only six errors, outpacing the Cowgirls' .231 hitting rate with only 33 kills. The Scarlet & Gray's six attack errors marks a season-low in 2023, remaining in single digits for the second time in the 2023 season. The Rebels won the match on a final box line of 25-13, 25-23 and 25-16.
Isabel Martin topped the Rebel stat line in kills, hitting .464 with 14 kills in the match.
Gabrielle Arretche-Ramos was the only other athletes across both team to hit double-digit kills, picking up 10 off of a team-high .526 hitting percentage for her seventh-straight games of double digits. The Scarlet & Gray's 32 assists were spread between seven student-athletes,
Arien Fafard leading the team with 17 in the three-set match with Mikkelsen picking up two of her own.
Junior
Dakota Quinlan led the UNLV defense against Wyoming, recording a season-high two solo blocks alongside a block assist as well.
Jordyn Freeman and Arretche-Ramos each picked up a pair of blocks as well, the team totaling eight blocks overall. Fafard had her highest dig-per-set rate during the 2023 season, totaling 12 digs in the three-set match to tie her season high.
Alyssa Muraoka followed closely behind with eight digs of her own, helping the team reach 31 digs overall compared to Wyoming's 21.
The Cowgirls were led by Tierney Barlow with nine kills in the contest, Sarah Holcomb close behind with eight. Wyoming almost exclusively had Kasia Partyka as their setter in the match, totaling 24 assists along with a team-high five digs.
NEXT FOR THE REBELS: UNLV now sits a game ahead of Boise State in the Mountain West standings heading into the final weekend, looking ahead to a pair of road match to close out the regular season. They'll first head out to San Jose State in California before venturing out to San Diego to face off against San Diego State. The first of those two matches will take place on Tuesday, Nov. 14 at 6 p.m. PT in the Spartan Gym.
