With a chance to finalize a spot in its first Mountain West Championship game, UNLV (9-2/6-1) closes out the regular-season by hosting San Jose State (6-5/5-2) Saturday afternoon ... The battle of the two hottest teams in the league will be televised in Southern Nevada via the Silver State Sports & Entertainment Network (Cox channel 125 or over the air 5.2) and be streamed on the Mountain West Network ... The Rebels, who are receiving votes in both major polls, are bowl-eligible for the first time since playing in the Heart of Dallas Bowl after the 2013 season ... The Rebels come in after winning their third straight, 31-27 at Air Force, while the Spartans won their fifth straight, 24-13, vs. San Diego State ... UNLV has reached the nine-win mark for only the sixth time in history and first time since finishing 10-1 in 1984 when Randall Cunningham lined up at QB ... The Rebels' victory over the Falcons gave them at least four road wins for only the third time in program history (4-2 in 2023, 5-1 in 1984 and 4-1 in 1979) ... UNLV has started 5-0 at home for the first time since John Robinson's 2000 squad went 6-0 at Sam Boyd Stadium and dating back to last season, UNLV has won six straight and nine of its last 11 games played at Allegiant Stadium ... The Rebs have shattered program records for 40+point games for both consecutive outings (four) and in a season (six) while scoring at least 24 points in nine straight games for the first time since they moved to Division I in 1978 ... UNLV's current total of 33 rushing touchdowns is tied with USC for first in the nation and are the most for a Rebel team since running in 34 in 1975 ... UNLV is currently tied for sixth nationally in turnover margin at plus-9 -- powered by 13 interceptions (T10th nationally) as the Rebel defense has at least one takeaway in every game this season and 16 straight outings overall ... The Rebels sit fifth nationally in third-down conversion rate at 51.5% and their 87 third-down conversions overall are seven more than any other team ... UNLV boasts its first MW Defensive Player of the Week (LB
