Box Score LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) – The Hustlin' Rebels kept the energy going from game one with an 8-3 victory over Pacific for the second game of the three-game home series Saturday afternoon at Earl E. Wilson Stadium.
UNLV improved its record to 2-0, while the Tigers dropped to 0-2.
REBEL OF THE GAME: RHP Sam Simon earned his first save of the season after 3.2 innings of relief and allowing only one hit.
TURNING POINT: Pacific jumped to an early lead in the top of the second inning, scoring one run on two hits and one error. The Hustlin' Rebels were able to take the lead in the bottom of the third frame with four runs on three hits. The Scarlet & Gray had a comfortable four-run lead until the top of the sixth inning when the Tigers closed the gap after scoring two runs on four hits and one error. UNLV answered back in the bottom of the sixth frame with two more runs on two hits to put them back at a four-run lead.
Josh Sharman (1-0) earned his first win of the season after throwing 5.1 innings, only allowing three runs on nine hits and striking out four batters.
Sam Simon (S,1) earned the save after 3.2 innings of relief and allowing only one hit.
Quinlan Sweany (0-1) was saddled with his first loss of the season after pitching one inning of relief and allowing four earned runs on three hits.
