Hustlin' Rebels Secure Sweep Over Pacific

UNLV baseball scored the second most runs in program history with 31 against Pacific on the final day of the series.

LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) – The Hustlin' Rebels absolutely dominated during the final game of the three-game series against Pacific with a final score of 31-6 Sunday afternoon at Earl E. Wilson Stadium, This marks the second most runs scored in a game in program history, the first being 37 runs against San Jose State in 1986. 

UNLV improved its record to 3-0, while the Tigers dropped to 0-3. 

REBEL OF THE GAME: Rylan Charles hit 5-for-8 on the day with 4 RBI and three runs scored for the Rebels. 

TURNING POINT: The Scarlet & Gray took an early lead in the bottom of the first frame, scoring five runs on two hits and two errors. UNLV secured the win in the bottom of the third inning after going through a total of 16 batters, scoring 11 runs on nine hits and two errors. 

Joey Acosta (1-0) earned his first win of the season after throwing 5.0 innings and allowing only one run and six hits.

Jake Tandy (0-1) was saddled with his first loss of the season after pitching only one third of an inning and allowing four runs on six hits, two walks and only one strikeout. 

UP NEXT: UNLV will hit the road for the first time this season to play a single-game, mid week contest against Arizona State Tuesday, February 22 at 5 p.m. (PT).
