Rebels Fall To Bulldogs In Extra-Inning Battle

LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) – The UNLV baseball team fell to Fresno State by a score of 2-1 in 10 innings during game one of a three-game series Friday night at Earl E. Wilson Stadium. 

The Scarlet & Gray dropped to 7-12, 3-4 MW, while the Bulldogs improved to 11-9, 5-4 MW.

REBEL OF THE GAME: Paul Myro IV went 2-for-4 at the plate with one RBI for the Rebels. 

BACK AND FORTH: UNLV took the lead in the bottom of the second inning after an RBI single from Myro brought in Alex Pimentel to score. Fresno State answered back in the top of the fourth after Jaden Sheppard brought home Tommy Hopfe on a ground out to second base.

EXTRA INNING WIN FOR FRESNO STATE: With the score tied 1-1 going into the top of the 10th inning, a one-run double from Tyler Davis put the Bulldogs ahead for good.

Jack Anker (2-0) earned his second win of the season for Fresno State after throwing 2.0 innings of relief and allowing only two hits with one strikeout. 

Tommy Hopfe (S,6) secured the save after pitching just one inning of relief and allowing only one hit with two strikeouts.

Sam Simon (0-1) suffered his first loss of the season for UNLV after going 2.0 innings of relief and allowing one run on two hits.

UP NEXT: UNLV will continue the series Saturday afternoon at Earl E. Wilson Stadium with first pitch slated for 1:05 p.m.
