LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) – The UNLV baseball team dropped the series finale to Fresno State by a score of 10-4 Sunday afternoon at Earl E. Wilson Stadium.
The Scarlet & Gray dropped to 7-14 and 3-6 in the Mountain West, while the Bulldogs improved to 13-9 (7-4).
REBEL OF THE GAME: Rylan Charles went 1-for-3 at the plate with a two-run single for the Rebels.
BACK AND FORTH: Fresno State held a five-run lead going into the bottom of the third inning before the Rebels were able to score two runs on back-to-back wild pitches from Angelo Romero to cut the deficit to three. Fresno State increased its advantage to 7-2 going into the bottom of the seventh, but the Rebels were able to answer back with a two-run single from Charles to bring them within three.
TURNING POINT: With the score at 7-4 going into the top of the eighth inning, a run brought in by a sacrifice fly and then a two-run single by Marco Pirruccello put the Bulldogs up for good.
Roman Angelo (2-3) earned his second win of the season for Fresno State after throwing 6.1 innings and allowing four runs on six hits with five strikeouts.
Victor Arreola (S,1) secured his first save of the season after pitching 2.2 innings of relief and allowing one hit with three strikeouts.
Joey Acosta (1-1) suffered his first loss of the season for UNLV after allowing five runs on three hits in two innings.
