LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) — Haley Engelbrecht hit a walk-off home run to lead UNR over UNLV 6-4 Sunday at Christina M. Hixson Field in Reno, Nevada.
The Wolf Pack scored five runs over the final three innings to rally from a 4-1 deficit.
After UNR (22-5 overall, 3-3 Mountain West) scored in the bottom of the first,
Janyssa Martin and
April Visser homered in the second and third innings, respectively, to build a 3-1 lead. Visser scored on
Denise Armendariz's two-out, full-count double to pad the cushion in the fifth.
But two-out RBIs would be the Rebels' undoing.
Charli Hawkins hit a two-run blast in the bottom of the fifth. Hannah Di Genova snuck a full-count single through the left side of the infield to drive in the game-tying run in the sixth. And Engelbrecht's game-clinching homer came with just one out needed to push the game into extra innings.
UNLV (15-16, 1-5) continues its road trip with a visit to Colorado State for a three-game series starting Friday, March 31, at 3 p.m. PT. The Rebels will be part of the grand opening of a newly renovated Ram Park and play in CSU's first-ever night softball game on Saturday at 5 p.m. MT.
