LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) – The UNLV baseball team defeated California Baptist 13-3 in seven innings during the non-conference series finale Sunday afternoon at Earl E. Wilson Stadium.
The Rebels improved to 15-22, while the Lancers dropped to 21-19. 
REBEL OF THE GAME: Austin Kryszczuk was 2-for-3 at the plate, including a three-run triple and three runs scored.  
HOW IT HAPPENED: UNLV held a 2-0 lead going into the bottom of the third inning and extended it with a three-run triple by Kryszczuk, followed by a run scored on a wild pitch. The Rebels plated four more runs in the bottom of the fifth, including a sacrifice fly from Braden Murphy and a pair of back-to-back RBI singles from Alex Pimentel and Jason Sharman. CBU answered back in the top of the sixth inning with a two-run double by Josh Paino followed by an RBI double from Connor McGuire. The Scarlet & Gray scored two more runs in the bottom of the sixth with a two-run double from Santino Panaro, followed by an RBI single in the bottom of the seventh by Jason Sharman to end the game. 
Zack Simon (1-1) secured his first win of the season for UNLV after throwing 5.1 innings and allowing three runs on seven hits. 
Nate Hemmerling (0-2) was saddled with the loss for CBU after allowing five runs on four hits in 2.1 innings of work. 
NOTES AND NEWS
- UNLV still owns the advantage in the all-time series, 5-3. 
UP NEXT: UNLV will hit the road for a two-game series against Creighton set for Tuesday, April 25 and Wednesday, April 26, before returning to the Golden State for a three-game Mountain West series against San Diego State scheduled to begin Friday, April 28 at 6:05 p.m.
