Sharman Brothers Shine In Game One Against Creighton

OMAHA, Neb. (UNLVRebels.com) – The UNLV baseball team defeated Creighton 10-7 during the first game of a two-game, non-conference series Tuesday night at Charles Schwab Field Omaha. 

The Rebels improved to 16-22, while the Bluejays dropped to 18-15.

REBEL OF THE GAME: Jason Sharman went 1-for-4 at the plate with a grand slam, which was also his first homer of the season. 

HOW IT HAPPENED: UNLV jumped out to an early lead after a two-run single from Austin Kryszczuk in the top of the first inning. The Rebels increased their advantage to 8-0 after a walk forced in a run, followed by Sharman's grand slam in the top of the third. Creighton answered back in the bottom of the fourth inning with a run on a wild pitch, followed by an RBI single from Sterling Hayes. The Bluejays plated two more runs in the bottom of the fifth including an RBI double from Ben North. The Scarlet & Gray scored two runs in the top of the ninth on a passed ball followed by a wild pitch. Creighton added three more runs on two hits in the bottom of the frame for the final margin. 

Josh Sharman (5-1) secured the win for UNLV after pitching six innings, allowing four runs on seven hits.

Cade Lommel (0-7) was saddled with the loss for Creighton after allowing six runs on three hits in 2.2 innings of work. 

UP NEXT: UNLV will conclude the series Wednesday afternoon at Charles Schwab Field Omaha with first pitch scheduled for 1 p.m (PT).
