
LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) – Three UNLV men's tennis players were named to the All-Mountain West Conference Team as the league announced its annual list of awards Tuesday on the eve of its championship event.
Maxim Verboven (Overpelt, Belgium) earned All-MW in both singles and doubles in his first season with the program after transferring from the Big 12 Conference. The senior stands 10-10 overall in singles play, including 7-7 at the No. 1 position in dual matches.
Anton Ornberg (Stockholm, Sweden) earned his first career all-league honor after going 13-10 overall in singles play, including 10-6 at the No. 2-3 spots in the lineup and 3-2 vs. MW opponents.
In doubles, Verboven was joined by his playing partner, first-time honoree
Milos Dabic (Belgrade, Serbia) after the duo posted a mark of 13-10 overall, including 12-9 at the top of the lineup in dual matches.
The Rebels, 12-10 overall and seeded fifth after ending 3-3 in the MW, will open play in Wednesday's quarterfinals vs. fourth-seeded Utah State starting at 5 p.m. PT.
The men's and women's combined tennis championship is being held this year in Las Vegas at the Darling Tennis Center. Day passes to the tournament are available on-site and priced at $12 for adults, $8 for children, students and military, with valid ID.
