LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) – The UNLV baseball team fell short to UNR, 8-2, during the second of a three-game Mountain West series Friday night at Earl E. Wilson Stadium.
The Scarlet & Gray dropped to 11-17 and 6-8 in the MW, while the Wolf Pack improved to 13-16 and 4-9 in league play.
REBEL OF THE GAME: Paul Myro IV went 2-for-4 at the plate with one RBI and one stolen base.
TURNING POINT: UNLV held a 2-0 lead going into the top of the sixth inning, but the Wolf Pack scored five runs - all unearned - with two outs. Jeff Bauser had an RBI double, followed by a two-run single from Henry Strmecki before a two-run double from JR Freethy put the Wolf Pack up three. UNR added three runs in the top of the eighth on a three-run home run from Jesse Pierce.
Kade Morris (3-3) secured his third win of the season for the Wolf Pack after allowing two runs on five hits with six strikeouts in seven innings of work.
Noah Beal (1-3) was saddled with the loss for UNLV. He pitched 5.2 innings and allowed three runs on seven hits with four strikeouts.
NOTES AND NEWS:
- The games against UNR will count toward the Silver State Series presented by America First Credit Union.
- UNLV leads the season against the Wolf Pack, 3-2.
