LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) - The UNLV baseball program earned the American Baseball Coaches Association's Team Academic Excellence Award for the fifth consecutive year, the ABCA recently announced.
The Hustlin' Rebels were one of only two Mountain West squads to claim the honor.
The ABCA Team Academic Excellence Award honors high school and college programs (NCAA Division I, II and III; NAIA; and junior college) that are coached by ABCA members and post a cumulative grade point average over 3.0 on a 4.0 scale.
"We are very proud of what our guys are accomplishing in the classroom and are fortunate that we have Alan Hott overseeing from an academic standpoint," UNLV baseball head coach
Stan Stolte said. "This type of recognition is all because of him and the hard work of the quality student-athletes that we bring into our program."
10 STRAIGHT SEMESTERS: UNLV baseball has achieved at least a 3.0 GPA for a program-record 10 straight semesters.
ACADEMIC ALL-MOUNTAIN WEST: The MW recently announced its academic all-league recipients and Rebel Baseball had 11 student-athletes honored (

Kade Higgins,
Gianni Horvat,
Austin Kryszczuk,
Braden Murphy,
Santino Panaro,
Alex Pimentel,
Noah Rodriguez,
Jason Sharman,
Jacob Sharp and
Edarian Williams. To be recognized, student-athletes must have completed at least one academic term at UNLV, while maintaining a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or better and competing in at least 50% of the season's contests.
MOUNTAIN WEST SCHOLAR-ATHLETE AWARD: The conference also recently named its scholar-athletes and the UNLV baseball program had six on that list (
Cole Andavolgyi,
Zander Bretza,
Kaleb Duncan,
Kade Higgins,
Austin Kryszczuk and
Noah Rodriguez). To be recognized student-athletes must have competed in at least two semesters at UNLV, while maintaining a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or better.
