FULLERTON, Calif. (UNLVRebels.com) – The UNLV women's soccer team played to a 1-1 draw against Cal State Fullerton in its non-conference finale Thursday night at Titan Stadium.
The Rebels (4-2-3) struck first in the contest via sophomore Mallie Ramirez's fourth-minute goal and would also have the last shot off the foot of freshman Kam Jalayer in the waning moments against the Titans (2-3-4). With just a handful of seconds on the clock, Ramirez ended up with a loose ball and passed to Jalayer, but the scoring chance was ultimately blocked by a Cal State Fullerton defender at the final whistle.
A pair of Clovis, California natives instigated the Scarlet & Gray early score, as sophomore
Cadence Whitley served up a volley into the box to Ramirez for her fourth goal of the season.
Finishing the final 45 minutes at goalkeeper, sophomore
Hanne Breur made four second-half saves and kept the Fullerton attack in check after its lone first-half goal. She helped preserve the split decision with a big swipe on a Titan one-on-one breakaway in the 71st minute.
UP NEXT: The Rebels will continue their five-game road trip with the start of Mountain West play at Wyoming on Thursday, Sept. 21.
