U.S. AIR FORCE ACADEMY, Colo. (UNLVRebels.com) - The No. 25 UNLV women's basketball secured a 76-64 victory over Air Force on Saturday afternoon at Clune Arena. The Lady Rebels have won 22 straight games against the Falcons and have earned 28 consecutive victories over Mountain West foes.
Desi-Rae Young picked up her 40th career double-double of 26 points and 11 rebounds (seven offensive, four defensive) to lead the Lady Rebels (14-1, 4-0 MW). Young shot 9-for-13 from the field, 8-for-13 from the free throw line and added a steal and a block to the stats sheet.
Kiara Jackson added 16 points by shooting 7-for-13 from the field, 1-for-2 from long range and 1-for-1 at the line. Jackson led the squad in assists with three.
Alyssa Durazo-Frescas was the third Lady Rebel to be in double-figures collecting 11 points.
Nneka Obiazor had a season-high 11 rebounds and was tied with Young for the lead.
Dasha Macmillian was the leading scorer for Air Force (9-9, 2-3 MW) with 19 points and Keelie O'Hollaren had 15 points, respectively.
SCORING RUNS: Desi-Rae Young drained the first bucket of the game, although Air Force hit a three-pointer to take an early 3-2 lead. The Lady Rebels then scored seven straight points courtsey of
Ashley Scogging and
Kiara Jackson to hold a 9-3 lead. The Falcons then took the lead 13-11 on a six-point scoring run, but
Alyssa Durazo-Frescas sank a three-pointer to give UNLV a 14-13 lead after the first 10 minutes. In the second quarter, Air Force scored a bucket right away to go up 15-14, but a Young and Durazo-Frescas basket put the Lady Rebels back on top, 18-15. Another six straight points gave UNLV a 24-17 advantage. The Lady Rebels and Falcons went back-and-forth for a minute and a half until UNLV scored 11 consecutive points including seven just from Young and increased the lead to double-digits at 37-22. Going into the break, the Lady Rebels held a 13-point lead over the Falcons at 38-25. In the third quarter, the Lady Rebels and Falcons went back-and-forth scoring as many as five or six points straight. UNLV continued to hold a double-figure lead in the third quarter and closed the quarter out with five straight points, 59-44. In the final frame, the Lady Rebels stayed hot and led by as many as 17, three times throughout the quarter. With under a minute left to play, the Falcons scored a three-pointer to cut the deficit to 12, 76-64, and the Lady Rebels then held onto the ball for the victory.

- The Lady Rebels now hold a 50-5 series advantage against the Falcons.
- UNLV out-rebounded Air Force 42-30.
- The Lady Rebels had 44 paint points compared to the Falcons' 24.
- There were six lead changes in the game including the Lady Rebels and Falcons being tied twice.
- UNLV's bench scored 21 points compared to Air Force's bench, which had 11 points.
- The Lady Rebels out-shot the Falcons 43.9% to 42.4%.
- Alyssa Brown had two-blocked shots tonight and brought down seven rebounds.
- Young currently ranks fifth in all-time scoring at UNLV with 1,707 career points and still sits in sole possession of third in career double-doubles with 40.
