Runnin' Rebels Roll To 112-56 Win Over Bethesda In Non-Conference Finale

Luis Rodriguez scored game-high 19 points as nine UNLV players tally eight or more Tuesday afternoon at Cox Pavilion.

LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) - Luis Rodriguez scored a game-high 19 points as nine Runnin' Rebels scored at least eight in a 112-56 win over Bethesda Tuesday afternoon at Cox Pavilion in UNLV's non-conference finale. The game, which was only added to the schedule less than two weeks ago, was held at Cox Pavilion because of a conflict with the Thomas & Mack Center hosting the Disney on Ice show.

Dedan Thomas Jr. scored 16 points for UNLV (7-5), while Keylan Boone and Rob Whaley Jr. each added 12, Isaiah Cottrell and Shane Nowell both had 11, Jackie Johnson III had 10, Brooklyn Hicks scored nine and Karl Jones had eight. Keylan Boone led all rebounders with 17 for a double-double. Isaiah Cottrell also had a double-double with 11 boards, and Kalib Boone had 10 rebounds. 

Bethesda was led in scoring by Jonathan Ileleji, Stephen Perry and Tawrence Shoffner each with 14.

STAT OF THE GAME: UNLV out-rebounded Bethesda 68-32, including 25-9 in offensive rebounds.



OTHER NOTES:
- Rodriguez added nine rebounds.
- Keylan Boone and Brooklyn Hicks each had a game-high-tying seven assists. Keylan Boone did not commit a turnover.
- Whaley Jr. had a team-high three steals, while Karl Jones had a team-high three blocked shots.
- UNLV shot 52.9% from the field (45 of 85), limiting Bethesda to just 30% shooting (21 of 70).
- Bethesda managed just 22.7% on 3-pointers (5 of 22).
- UNLV made 24 more field goals over the course of the game than Bethesda did.
- UNLV tallied 28 assists.
- UNLV led in points off turnovers 26-8, points in the paint 64-22, second-chance points 25-5, fastbreak points 21-4 and in bench scoring 62-10.
- UNLV led 54-28 at the half.
- UNLV has made at least one 3-pointer in a NCAA-record 1,205 straight games.



NEXT FOR THE RUNNIN' REBELS: UNLV will open Mountain West conference play at San Diego State on Saturday, Jan. 6. The 1 p.m. game will be televised nationally on CBS.
