Women's Basketball Falls To No.9 Oklahoma

Kiara Jackson recorded her second career double-double and led the Lady Rebels

LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) - The UNLV Lady Rebels fell 88-58 to No. 9 Oklahoma in a marquee non-conference matchup on Friday night at Thomas & Mack Center.

Kiara Jackson led UNLV (4-2) with her second career double-double which consisted of 20 points, one shy of her career-high, and 10 rebounds which were all defensive. McKinna Brackens was the second-leading scorer with 12 points and seven rebounds. Brackens shot 5-for-7 from the field and 2-for-3 from the three-point line.

The Sooners (5-0) were led by Skylar Vann with 15 points and Zya Vann with 14 points, respectively.

STAT OF THE GAME: The Lady Rebels shot 41.2% (14 of 34) from the field in the first half, compared to the Sooners' 39.5% (15 of 38).

QUOTABLE: "Not the outcome we wanted tonight. Oklahoma is a very good team, and I don't totally believe we are 30 points behind them, but that's what we were tonight. I give them a lot of credit. They're a top-10 team in the country for a reason. They have a lot of weapons and are very deep. Oklahoma made shots and executed all over the place. I thought our first half was tremendous, we executed, we played our hearts out. In the second half, we are going to have to look at the film and see exactly where things went sideways because they went sideways pretty quickly. We want to play in games like this and our next game is just as big, frankly. Our schedule doesn't get any easier, so we have to learn and respond and get back out there and move forward." said head coach Lindy La Rocque.

OTHER NOTES:
  • Oklahoma and UNLV are now tied in the all-time series 2-2.
  • The Sooners out-rebounded the Lady Rebels, 51-37.
  • Jackson and Alyssa Brown each dished out three assists a piece.
  • Amarachi Kimpson had two steals.
  • There were eight lead changes between the two squads and eight times the Sooners and Lady Rebels were tied.

UP NEXT: The Lady Rebels will round out the five-game homestand hosting the UNLV Thanksgiving Classic at the Thomas & Mack Center beginning on Wednesday, Nov. 27. The UNLV Thanksgiving Classic will see East Carolina, Montana State and UCF. The Scarlet & Gray will first play UCF on Wednesday, Nov. 27 at 12 p.m.
