SAN DIEGO (UNLVRebels.com) – UNLV women's golf sophomore
Toa Yokoyama sits tied for eighth after shooting a 1-over Monday through the first two rounds of the San Diego State Classic at The Farms Golf Club (Par 72, 6,329 yards).
Yokoyama started the day with a first-round 1-under 71 and ended it with four of her seven birdies in the second round.
Also representing the Rebel lineup are sophomore
Thienna Huynh (+7) in a tie for 20th, junior
McKenzi Hall (+10) in a tie for 34th, graduate student
Maria Jose Martinez (+14) in a tie for 41st and junior
Mayumi Umezu (+19) in a tie for 52nd through 36 holes. They have the Scarlet & Gray (+32) positioned in seventh place going into the final round.
Taking the day-one lead, Virginia finished the day with a 7-over for a one-shot lead over South Carolina (+8) in second. On the individual leaderboard, Oregon's Kiara Romero moved ahead of the pack to grab a lead at 5-under.
