The Rebel sophomore shot a final-round 5-under 67 for her second consecutive top-10 finish

SAN DIEGO (UNLVRebels.com) – After shooting a final-round 5-under 67 Tuesday, UNLV women's golf sophomore Toa Yokoyama finished third at the San Diego State Classic at The Farms Golf Club (Par 72, 6,329 yards).

Yokoyama, who sank five of her team-best 12 birdies for the tournament on the day, recorded her second consecutive top-10 finish with a season-low 54-hole score of 4-under 212. She was one of two Rebels to finish inside the top 10 as Thienna Huynh notched an even-par 72 in the final round to place 10th (+7).

As a team, UNLV tied for sixth (+42) with host SDSU. Following the Scarlet & Gray's 1-2 punch in the lineup, junior McKenzi Hall tied for 36th (+16), graduate student Maria Jose Martinez finished 48th (+24) and junior Mayumi Umezu tied for 56th (+28).

No. 6 South Carolina jumped to the top of the leaderboard ahead of No. 25 Virginia (+17) by one shot for the team victory at 16-over 880. Oregon's Kiara Romero held onto her lead for individual medalist honors at 9-under 207.
