HUMBLE, Texas (UNLVRebels.com) – UNLV women's golf junior
Toa Yokoyama shot a career-low 9-under 207 to finish tied for sixth following Tuesday's final round at the Chevron Collegiate hosted by University of Houston at Golf Club of Houston (Par 72, 6,171 yards).
Yokoyama, who led off her tournament with a career-best-tying round of 6-under 66 and second-round 1-under 71, put together a final-round 2-under 70. She etched on her scorecard a Rebel season-best 15 birdies during the event, including five on the day, as she was just three shots shy of the winning score.

McKenzi Hall (+2) and sophomore
Thienna Huynh finished side-by-side in a tie for 43rd, graduate student
Maria Jose Martinez (+4) tied for 55th and junior
Mayumi Umezu (+7) tied for 67th.
The team top-5 leaderboard featured four Texas schools, with SMU claiming the title at 33-under 831 through 54 holes. Next in line were Maryland (-29), Texas A&M (-24), Texas State (-17) and Texas Tech (-16) in second through fifth, respectively. UNLV finished in the middle of the pack in a tie for 10th at 3-under 861, marking its second straight top-10 finish.
Taking home individual co-medalist honors, Maryland's Nicha Kanpai and Illinois' Isabel Sy finished with matching scorecards at 12-under 204.

REBEL NOTES:
- With her final score at Golf Club of Houston, Yokoyama moved into a tie for the fifth-lowest tournament score in UNLV women's golf program history.
- Yokoyama's streak of top-10 finishes includes below-par scores in five of her last six rounds. Those include three over the course of the Chevron Collegiate and four straight dating back to the final round of the San Diego State Classic.
- Entering the week, Yokoyama ranked No. 7 in the nation according to Spikemark's NCAA Division I player rankings.
- It was the second time this season that a Rebel shot a 9-under 207 on a par-72 course. McKenzi Hall won individual medalist honors at UNM with the same score during the fall slate.
- The Scarlet & Gray combined to sink a team season-best 51 birdies in the tournament.
