GUADALAJARA, Mexico (UNLVRebels.com) – UNLV women's golf sophomore
Toa Yokoyama grabbed a top-10 finish after Friday's final round of the Collegiate Invitational hosted by Virginia at Guadalajara Country Club (Par 72, 6,333 yards).
Yokoyama (76-74-73) shot a final-round 1-over to finish tied for ninth at 7-over 223 through 54 holes. Her improvement of 11 spots in the individual standings followed a day that saw her end the front and back nine on high notes, draining birdies on holes No. 9 and 18.
Finishing among the top 30 with her Rebel counterpart,
Thienna Huynh (+12) made a seven-spot improvement on the leaderboard as she finished tied for 28th. The Scarlet & Gray's remaining players included
Maria Fernanda Martinez's (+18) tie for 47th in her home country, as well as
Mayumi Umezu's (+22) tie for 53rd and
McKenzi Hall's (+23) 57th-place finish.
In the team standings, Florida State never relinquished its day-one lead to take the tournament title at 14-over 878. The individual trophy went to Colorado State's Andrea Bergsdottir (-4). UNLV (+53) finished 11th.
