LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) - The No. 21 and No.1 seeded UNLV women's basketball team is onto the Mountain West Championship semifinals after a huge 83-85 win over No. 9 seeded Fresno State on Monday at the Thomas & Mack Center. The Lady Rebels will play on Tuesday against No. 5 seed Colorado State in the semifinals.

The Lady Rebels (28-2) had four players score in double-figures and were led by
Alyssa Brown and
Amarachi Kimpson who each put up 16 points. Not only was Brown tied as the leading-scorer, but she also led UNLV in rebounds with nine (two offensive, seven defensive), led in blocks with three and tied her career-high in assists with four. Brown was 6-for-8 from the field, was a perfect 3-for-3 from the three-point range and was 1-for-2 at the free throw line. Kimpson led the squad in assists with five and continued to get baskets to fall. Kimpson shot 4-for-5 from the field, was also a perfect 3-for-3 from behind the arc and was 5-for-6 at the free throw line.
Kiara Jackson drained 15 points by shooting 7-for-11 from the field and sank her only three-point attempt.
Fresno State (15-18) was led by Mia Jacobs and Maria Konstantinidou who each had seven points. Konstantinidou was also the Bulldogs' rebounding leader with six. Fresno State's squad were all held to seven points and under.

BIG SECOND QUARTER PUSH: The Lady Rebels headed into the second quarter with a single-digit lead of six as
Kiara Jackson hit a jump shot at the buzzer to hold a 19-13 lead. As the second quarter started, UNLV began to heat up. The Lady Rebels scored 11 consecutive points out the gate to build the double-digit lead, 30-13. Fresno State broke-up the scoring run with a basket by Jacobs. Kimpson sank two free throws to get the lead back to 17, 32-15. After five points from the Bulldogs, the Lady Rebels scored 12 straight points, which began a scoring run that led into the third quarter. UNLV held a 44-20 lead going into the break.

DEFENSIVE EFFORT: UNLV only allowed Fresno State to score in double-figures in one of the four quarters. In the first half, the Lady Rebels held the Bulldogs to a combined 20 points by shooting 9-for-31 (29.0%) from the field and 2-for-11 (18.2%) from the three-point mark. Following the break, Fresno State' only tacked on 15 more points by shooting 4-for-30 from the field (13.3%) and they did not hit a three-pointer.

OTHER NOTES:
- Head coach Lindy La Rocque earned her 100th career win and became the first Lady Rebels' head coach to record 100 wins in her first four seasons at the helm. Former co-head coaches Sheila Strike and Jim Bolla recorded 96 wins in the first four years (1982-86).
- Desi-Rae Young added 10 points for the Lady Rebels and six rebounds.
- UNLV shot over 50% from the field (28-for-51; 51.9% and the three-point line (12-for-21; 57.1%).
- The Lady Rebels out-rebounded the Bulldogs 45-31.
- UNLV scored 22 paint points of its 83 combined points.
- The Lady Rebels' bench out-scored the Bulldogs' bench 31-20.
