TUCSON, Ariz. (UNLVRebels.com) – Junior
Toa Yokoyama recorded a top-5 finish as the UNLV women's golf team concluded play Sunday in Kansas State's MountainView Collegiate at The Preserve Golf Club (Par 72, 6,345 yards).
A day after shooting a 1-over 73 in the second round, Yokoyama bounced back with her best round of the weekend at 4-under 68 to climb eight spots in the final round for a tied-for-fourth finish. This marked her fourth top-10 finish of the spring for the Tokyo, Japan native, who shot a 6-under 210 for the tournament and sank seven of her team-best 14 birdies at the event in the final round
Rounding out the Rebel lineup, sophomore
Thienna Huynh (+3) - who came off a second-round 1-under 71 - tied for 34th and senior
Madeleine Laux (+9) tied for 54th, while graduate student
Maria Jose Martinez (+11) and junior
McKenzi Hall each tied for 61st.
Walking away with the respective team and individual victories, South Florida shot a 16-under 848 and USF's Melanie Green tallied an 11-under 205 through 54 holes. The Scarlet & Gray (+13) finished 11th in the team standings.
UP NEXT: The Rebels will finish regular season play in Dallas when they compete in the Texas Showdown, which is being hosted by Baylor from April 8-9.
